Reno’s East Fourth Street will be transformed during the second annual Positively 4th Street Better Block Project event.
Considered “the gateway” to downtown Reno, Fourth Street is home to several historical properties but is in need of upgrades and repair. Local businesses are looking to spruce up the area through landscaping, adding a two-way bicycle lane, re-striping traffic lanes and other improvements.
“This area of town receives so little attention, but it is so beautiful,” said Noah Chubb-Silverman, co-founder and executive director of the Reno Bike Project, a non-profit community bicycle shop and advocacy group. “We want to open the eyes of the city to see its potential. When people see what a historically rich, modern and bustling area it could be, they are going to love it.”
The event will be held June 14 on the 500 block of East Fourth Street from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and includes food and a variety of activities and entertainment throughout the day.
